About Course
This diploma course is designed for dental nurses who want to greatly expand their practical scope. The theoretical aspect of the course will give the student in depth knowledge of the disease process of caries, periodontal diseases, tooth wear and other oral diseases.
The practical aspect of the course will ensure you are competent at:
- Oral Hygiene Instruction
- Assessing Caries Risk
- Fluoride Varnish Application
- Recording Plaque Indices
- Alginate Impression Taking
- Intra Oral Scanning
- Topical Local Anaesthetic Application
The diploma consists of online modules covering each oral disease and how these may be prevented within the dental setting while working as a dental nurse.
Clinically, the course will consist of four practical days in Glasgow where you will be trained and assessed on the practical aspects of the course before being determined a safe beginner.
The practical days will be held at 22 Norby Road, Glasgow, G11 7BN the dates are :

- 30/03/24
- 27/04/24
You will be assigned a clinical coach who will check on your progress and support you throughout the course and provide advice when needed.
The Diploma meets GDC development outcomes A, B, and C and covers a total of 50 hours enhanced CPD.
